Our Lady of Lourdes School is a K-12 campus + Enlarge

SALT LAKE CITY — Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School (Lourdes) has been serving the children in the Salt Lake Valley in some capacity since 1921, when it was known as Judge Mercy Grammar School. It became Lourdes when the new building was completed in 1964. The school is still located on the campus of Judge Memorial Catholic High School, and is a part of the only Catholic K-12 campus in Salt Lake City. Because of our location, Lourdes middle school students are now taking classes at Judge, including math, science and foreign language classes. We have students currently in seventh and eighth grade, who have excelled in classes at Lourdes, who also take honors classes at Judge. Our students are benefitting from this association with Judge by allowing them the opportunity to get to know Judge and to make the transition to high school much easier.

Our Lady of Lourdes is the school "Where everybody is somebody!" We have teachers who have been teaching at Lourdes for more than 10 years, with one celebrating her 35th anniversary this year! Our reading specialist is regarded as one of the best reading instructors in the nation and our school has twice been chosen as the Martin Luther King Jr. award winner for ethnic diversity. Many of our students regularly rank higher than the national average in the standardized testing. Our Lady of Lourdes School has basketball and ski programs as well as an extended day program for after school care.

Our classes tend to fill quickly and early registration is recommended. An open house will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, for anyone interested in attending our school for the 2009-2010 school year. For information, call Jeff Kuehndahl at (801) 633-9899 or call the school office at (801)364-5624.
