A Kings Celebration! On March 6, more than 250 parishioners gathered to celebrate the birthday of Fr. Oscar Martin Picos, pastor of Saint George Catholic Church. He was dubbed King for a Day as he sat on his throne. A red velvet crown was placed on his head and a regal gold necklace was draped around his neck. The CCD, the Missionary Sisters and the Spanish Youth Group honored Fr. Martin with special tributes. Young and old feasted on an array of ethnic dishes, delicious desserts and one of Father’s favorite beverages: coffee. Lively music played throughout the afternoon, which added to the festivities.

In the notification, the committee members noted that they "were very impressed with your confidence in speaking German, your broad interests that include German, Music, Math and Science, and your mature answers during the interview." Gruis is a member of St. Olaf Parish, where she is an altar server, and attended St. Olaf Catholic School.
