Ruby Anniversary! Victor T. and Linda K. Martinez, parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Nov. 13.

Got Smarts? Maddy Cartwright, Judge Memorial Class of 2009 and student at Redlands University, was named to two All-Academic squads this week: the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-Academic team and the Capitol One District VIII.

Holy Award! Rosibel "Rosy" Mancillas Lopez, a student at the University of San Diego Law School and advocate for immigration reform from San Diego, is the recipient of the 2011 Cardinal Bernardin New Leadership Award. The award is sponsored by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development the anti-poverty program of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

U Know! Sean Sellwood, Judge Memorial Class of 2008 and student at the University of Utah, was named Pac-12 special teams Player of the Week.

Good News! Vida Nueva, the magazine of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, has been chosen as the best monthly publication in Spanish in the country by the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP). In total the publication received 8 awards in this year edition of the Premios José Martí.
