Happy Anniversary! The Most Rev. John C. Wester, bishop of Salt Lake City, will celebrate the 15th anniversary of his Episcopal ordination Sept. 18; Father John E. Norman, pastor of Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, will celebrate the 34th anniversary of his ordination Sept. 7; and Father Javier G. Virgen, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Magna, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his ordination Sept. 4. 

Appointed! Pietro Parolin, Italian Archbishop, has been appointed by Pope Francis as Vatican secretary of state.

Rising Star! Taylor Gustafson, a senior at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, has been named to the 2013 Girls’ Volleyball Under Armour Watch List.

A Larger Stage! Quinn Humlicek, a senior at Judge Memorial CHS, spent four weeks on the campus of the The California Institute for the Arts, studying theater.

Hitting Grades out of the Park! A.J. Carman, Judge Memorial CHS Class of ’09 and a pitcher for the University of New Mexico baseball team, was named both Academic All-Mountain West and a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete following the spring season.

Pitching for Success! Joe Pond, Judge Memorial CHS Class of ’ 08, a pitcher for the University of Utah baseball team, was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team.

Golden Gloves! Andrew Matthews, a senior at Judge Memorial CHS, a member of the Judge Memorial soccer and football teams, as well as the local La Roca soccer club team, competed in the boys’ soccer U.S. Presidents Cup Nationals and was crowned national champion. He was then awarded the prestigious "Golden Glove" trophy.

International Knight! The Dan Montague family, who were honored this year by being named "Family of the Year" at the 2013 Knights of Columbus state convention, were recently named International runners-up for family of the year at the Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention in San Antonio. The Montagues are Saint Thomas More parishioners.
