Happy 90th Birthday! Ernie Cario, formally of Saint Patrick Parish, will celebrate his 90th on Sept. 24.

A Diamond Anniversary! Nelson and Ida Romeo, parishioners of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Midvale, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary (Sept. 15) with a reception filled with family and friends on Sept. 16.

Husky Attack! Cort Dennison, Judge Memorial CHS class of 2007, was named PAC-12 defensive player of the week for his performance with the University of Washington against Hawaii. Cort had 12 tackles and a forced fumble in the Huskies win.

E = Finalist! James Larson, who teaches science at J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School in Salt Lake City, is one of six Utah teachers named as finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. The program is administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House.

Speaker Points! Idriss and Katie Roberts, seniors at Juan Diego CHS and members of senior policy debate team, were invited to the Greenhill Round Robin in Dallas, Texas. The tournament is generally attended by the top 100 or so policy debate teams in the country. Greenhill sends out an invitation to those they perceive to be the preseason top 16 teams in the nation, inviting them to participate in a pre-invitational Round Robin tournament that takes place two days earlier than their open-invitational tournament. Not only were Richard and Katie considered to be in the top 16 teams in the country heading into the start of the year, but they were also the only team invited west of Dallas, TX.

Nationally Recognized! Erin Dugan, a senior at Judge Memorial CHS, has been honored by the 2011 National Merit Foundation.�@
