Peace Winners! The international organization Celebrate Positive announced Juan Diego Catholic High School was one of the top five ranking schools considered for the inaugural 2010 United Nations NGO Positive Peace Award. This award, viewed as a 21st-century peace prize, honors and recognizes schools for their overall positivity and contributions to their local and world community. The Positive Peace Award winners were selected by the United Nations NGO Voting Academy, which is comprised of highly respected United Nations NGOs such as Rotary International, Pathways to Peace and Sister Cities International. The Voting Academy judged essays written by schools around the world to determine top award winners. These awards recognize schools that are asking the question: "How do we make our world a better place?" and take the necessary steps to achieve positive change.
