Reader’s Choice! Karina and Rob Fabian, Christ Prince of Peace parishioners, have a second volume of Catholic science fiction coming out Nov. 15. The 12 science fiction stories in "Infinite Space, Infinite God II" span the gamut of the genre, but have one twist in common: each features a Catholic hero or theme. The first anthology, "Infinite Space, Infinite God I" won the EPPIE for best science fiction and was a top 10 finalist for best science fiction in the Preditor and Editor polls. Karina Fabian is a past president of the Catholic Writer’s Guild, which awarded the book the Seal of Approval, signifying that it adheres to Catholic traditions and beliefs.

Batter Up! Kody Davis, of Juan Diego Catholic High School, will sign a letter of intent Nov. 10 to play baseball at the University of Utah. Davis is one of the most highly sought high school baseball players in the country. He chose the U over many colleges offering full-ride scholarships.National Merits! Three Judge Memorial Catholic High School students have been honored by the 2011 National Merit Foundation. This distinction signifies these students as part of a select group of high school seniors in the country. The semi-finalists from Judge Memorial are Matthew Pell and Brian Willhard. Matt Kirkegaard is honored as a commended student.

10th Anniversary! The St. George Deacon class members will celebrate on Nov. 19 the 10th anniversary of their ordination. A luncheon in their honor was held Oct. 24. The deacons, their wives and their parishes are Rigoberto and Maria Aguirre, St. George; Denny and Gail Davies, Christ the King; Jack and Barbara Gorman, St. George; Joe Regan (deceased), his wife Pat Regan lives in St George; and Rogaciano and Juanita Tellez, St. George. The class was organized by Sister Elena and Sister Jeramiah, who traveled to Saint George twice a month so the deacons could have instruction.

The Most Rev. Bishop John Wester celebrated his annual Mass with the Filipino Catholic community Oct. 31 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Salt Lake City. It was con-celebrated by Father Joey Frez and Father Jose Lachica, two of the three Filipino priests in the diocese. It was attended by many Filipinos from different parishes, who came from as far as Logan and Orem.
