Happy 90th! Best wishes to Rosalie Yeager, a member of St. Ann’s Parish, on her 90th birthday. A celebration in her honor was held for friends and family.

Atten-hut! Aaron J. Marquez, whose father Victor Marquez is a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Magna, wrote an article that was posted in the Huffington Post on Nov. 14. Aaron Marquez is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves; his article appeared in the Huffington Post’s ‘Salute to Service’ series in honor of Veterans Day. Smart Cookies! Judge Memorial Catholic High School recently held its induction for the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The National Honor Society is an academic honorary society and service organization for the school. Membership in the National Honor Society is based on scholarship (3.5 GPA), leadership, service, and character. Elected as officers for 2010-2011 are Matt Kirkegaard, president and vice presidents Josie Mascher, Lindsey Reemsnyder, Chloe Ropner and Mary Zost.

Soft Spot! Saint Paul’s Pillow Project has completed 306 pillowcases that will be donated to elderly residents in care homes. The women in the group, which was coordinated by Debbi Warmus, sewed highly decorative pillow cases; a fund drive raised $200 to purchase the materials. The donations went to Hurricane Home and Rehab Center, Porters Nursing Home, Heritage Home, Coral Canyon Bee Hive, Bee Hive Home in Hurricane, Judy’s House in La Verkin, Erin Kimball Foundation, Hope Pregnancy Center, Hurricane Hospice and St Paul’s Catholic Center.

Think Pink! The Blessed Sacrament Student Council team raised $3,500 for breast cancer research and funding as one of the top five teams for the fifth annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Liberty Park in October, which raised a total of $190,000. "We put buckets outside our classroom and watched kids and parents put change and checks in them every day for one week," said Elizabeth Monsoor, the team leader for Blessed Sacrament School. "By the end of the week, we passed our goal and raised over $3,300!"
