Generous Women! Blessed Sacrament Parish Council of Catholic Women donated a gift of $400 to the Food Bank at Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish. During the women’s group’s 23rd Annual Holiday Blessings Boutique on Nov. 20, voluntary donations for the local food bank were requested. Maureen Newman, 2010 Boutique Chair, and all who contributed helped make this Thanksgiving a greater blessing for patrons of the food bank.

Double nickel! Turning 55 on Sunday is Father Michael Sciumbato, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose parishioners send their love and best wishes to him on his special day.

Thinking Positive! Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary/Middle School has been selected as a 2010 National Promising Practices award winner for its monthly character education practice of linking an action (service project), a virtue (positive character trait), and a saint (positive role model). This program will serve as a model for others to replicate and integrate into their character education initiatives. "These educators have found creative ways to improve school climate and, as a result, their students are learning more, doing the right thing, and giving back to others," said Lara Maupin, associate director of National Schools of Character at the 17th National Forum on Character Education hosted by the Character Education Partnership on Oct. 30.
