Pastoral Center staffer wins trip to Belize

SALT LAKE CITY — George LaDamus, data/IT specialist for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, grew anxious as he climbed the stairs at the Pastoral Center to the Bishop Kearney conference room, where he had been called to what he thought was a meeting, but he began to think otherwise when he saw the video camera recording his process. Inside the conference room, he was greeted with cheers of congratulations from his coworkers as members of his family held a banner declaring he had won a trip to Belize from the Maverik Adventure Club. His wife, Carol, will accompany him, although his two children tried hard to persuade him otherwise. “I guess I spend too much time at Maverik,” said George, who said he was surprised and happy by winning. His wife knew about the trip for two weeks before the presentation and had a hard time keeping it secret, she said.
