Phyllis Hurtado

SAINT GEORGE — Phyllis Hurtado passed away July 11, 2012.

Hurtado was born in Washington, D.C. to Edna M. Harrell and Andrew J. Smith. She was raised in Tooele, Utah by her paternal aunt and uncle, Mary K. and John Dawson. She married Merlin F. Young on Dec. 28, 1957 in Elko, Nev. They divorced in 1971 and she married Leo F. Butcher, Sr. on April 28, 1972. On Oct. 4, 2004 Phyllis married Arthur J. Hurtado in Alexandria at the St. Louis Catholic Church. They devoted much of their time to volunteering at the St. George Catholic Church and Elks Lodge.

Hurtado is survived by her husband; three sisters: Jacque Frailey, Andrea Suraci (Mike) and Patty Reed (Ray); Albert (Sharon), Arthur Jr. (Cathy), Anthony (Brenda), Michael (DeAnn), Marie, Betty Jo Berghammer (Rich), Robert.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint George Catholic Church.
