Ramon Galvan

MIDVALE — Ramon Galvan, 89, died March 2, of natural causes.

Galvan was born July 6, 1919, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Socorro Hernandez and Antero Orozco. He was raised by his stepfather Fedencio Galvan and his mother in Bingham. In 1946, he married Bella Aurelia Rubalcava. He retired from Kennecott as a machinist. He was the first Mexican to hold this position. He went on to serve as president of his union. He was a devout Catholic, and volunteered many hours at the food bank. He was generous, always helping others in numerous ways. He enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything mechanical and could always be found in his comfortable garage filled with tools.

He is survived by his children, Ramon (Elizabeth Elmer) Galvan, Jr., VelmaLei (Alberto) Gallegos, David (Maria Garciaz) Galvan, Gina (Brad) Babb, and James Galvan; his siblings, Henry Galvan, Virginia Juerta, Esther Barbara; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Therese Catholic Church. Interment was in the Midvale City Cemetery.
