Rebecca Florez Alvera

SALT LAKE CITY — Rebecca Florez Alvera, 83, died May 30. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

Alvera was born March 11, 1925, to Reyes and Encarnacion Florez. She cherished her days with the Guadalupe Mission. She cooked Mexican meals for church festivals and was an Altar Society member. Her first job was at Purity Biscuit Company. During World War II, she worked in a defense plant in Clearfield. She later worked at Manuel’s Fine Foods. She married Bennie Alvera in 1948. Her greatest pride were Bennie and her eight children.

She is survived by her husband, Bennie; sons, Dennis (Amy), John (Moneca), Tony (Joline), and Mike; daughters, Vivian, Angie, and Rosemarie; 17 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Diane) Florez; sister, Delores (Jose) Garcia; and sister-in-law Bobby Florez.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
