Robert K. Ward

SALT LAKE CITY — Robert K. Ward died Nov. 7, 2013.

Ward was born May 7, 1933 to John Isaac Ward and Clara Agnes Ward. He went to the University of Utah to earn his Bachelor of Science degree, master’s degree in social work and finally his PhD in gerontology. He started out in child welfare, then as the assistant director and director of the state Division of Aging. While he served in the United States military he achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel before his honorable discharge from the Army Reserves.

He married Ivy Jean on Dec. 19, 1959.

Ward was a devout Catholic who grew up and married in Saint Ann Parish. He also attended Saint Vincent de Paul and the Cathedral of the Madeleine parishes.

Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Ivy Jean; parents; brother John, and sisters Margaret, Dorothy and Joan.

Ward is survived by children Rob, Dan, and Suzy; best friend Spike; brother William; sister Pat; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church.
