SALT LAKE CITY — Rosalie (Mary Abeyta) Martinez, 88, passed away July 23, 2012.

Martinez was born Dec. 6, 1923 to Beatrice Quintana and Frank J. Abeyta in Ignacio, Colo. She married Edward S. Martinez Nov. 6, 1944.

Martinez was a very active member of the Catholic Church, a member of the group Sewing Angels, and voted woman of the year for Saint Rose of Lima Parish for her acts of service. She also worked at McKay Dee Hospital for 20 years.

Martinez is survived by son Louis Martinez; daughter Patricia Martinez; two grandchildren; great-grandson; sisters Sally Herrera, Philomena Abeyta, Virginia Wilson and brother Frank Abeyta.

Martinez was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
