SALT LAKE CITY — Salt + Light Television in Toronto, Canada, is now able to offer its broadcast signal to American cable companies for cable viewers in the United States and would like to offer it in Salt Lake City.

"We are a production house and produce our own content: documentaries on several things, including stories on saints and blessed; daily and weekly programs on Catholic topics and programs such as the weekly program ‘Vatican Connections,’ which focuses on what is going on at the Vatican," said Joshua Lanzarini, Salt + Light marketing and communications manager. "We have daily feeds from the Vatican, so we can broadcast Vatican concerts, Pope Francis’ general audience on Wednesdays and his weekend events and papal journeys around the world."

Salt + Light also offers Christian programming in line with the Catholic Church, and a few hours a week of children’s programming.

"We want to come into the United States because there is a high demand for Salt + Light from bishops, cardinals and also from viewers who have met us or met our chief executive officer, Basilian Father Thomas Rosica," said Lanzarini.

The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, is chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Communications Committee. He was formerly the chairman of the Committee on Migration and Refugees, and in this capacity was a guest on Salt + Light’s "Witness" program.

"Witness," is a series of in-depth interviews with high-level religious and civic leaders – people who are contributing significantly to the vibrancy of their Catholic communities. Fr. Rosica hosts "Witness."

"Fr. Tom Rosica does an excellent job and is a fine theologian himself," Bishop Wester said. "I had an opportunity to visit them several years ago and was most impressed with the work that they do. I encourage all of our faithful to write, email, or call the various cable companies to support Salt + Light’s bid to be featured on our cable networks.

"I’m hoping that our parishioners will support the ability of Salt + Light Television to be featured on our cable networks here in Utah," said Bishop Wester, adding that it’s an excellent Catholic broadcast and it covers the full gamut of Catholic issues in a very balanced and orthodox way.

Over the past 10 years, Salt + Light Television network has been a valuable tool of evangelization, faith education and live broadcasts of global church events for its viewers, said Lanzarini.

Now Salt + Light is able to bring coverage of national and international Catholic events to viewers in the United States, but they need viewers to convince their local cable and television providers to download the signal and add it to their channel line-up so it can be available.

Viewers can help by connecting with their TV provider to request that Salt + Light TV be included in their channel line-up by calling 1-855-YES-4-SLTV or 1-855-937-4-7588.
