Sister Margaret Andre Stechschulte

ADRIAN, Mich. — Dominican Sister Margaret Andre Stechschulte, 81, formerly known as Elizabeth Stechschulte, passed away Sept. 26, 2012.

She was in the 57th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Margaret Andre was born in Owosso, Mich. to Rudolph and Margaret (Attenburger) Stechschulte. She spent 22 years ministering in education in Detroit, Southgate and Lansing, Mich.; Chicago and Oak Park, Ill.; and Des Moines, Iowa. She taught for two years at Bishop Quarter Military Academy in Oak Park, Ill., an institution of the Congregation, ministered in the Congregation Finance Office, was the communications director for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, the executive director of the Dominican Leadership Conference in River Forest, Ill. and the Delegate for Religious in the Archdiocese of Detroit. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan in 2008.

Sister Margaret Andre is survived by two brothers, David Stechschulte and George Stechschulte; and a cousin, Sister Agnes Louise Stechschulte, also an Adrian Dominican Sister.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Catherine Chapel.
