NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Holy Cross Sister Mary Elenore Simons (Sister Mary DeSales), 87, died Aug. 16 at St. Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, Ind. Sr. Mary was born April 22, 1918, in Tacoma, Wash. In her apostolic service she was an elementary school teacher and principal at schools in California, Utah, Indiana, and Washington. From 1945-1946, she was an elementary school teacher at St. Joseph School, Ogden. From 1958-1961, she was an elementary school teacher at Bishop Glass School, Salt Lake City. A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Notre Dame, Ind. Contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, 401 Bertrand Hall, Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana 46556.
