St. Marguerite continues to expand, celebrate Christian values + Enlarge

TOOELE — Saint Marguerite Catholic School was opened in 1981 as a preschool with 53 preschool students in a converted convent. It opened under the direction of the late Monsignor John Sullivan and. Janet Barbiero. In 2005, under the direction of Father Matthew Wixted, we were given permission to expand into the elementary grades.

In 2006, Most Rev. John Wester, bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, gave his official blessing to our new status as the newest Catholic elementary school within the Diocese of Salt Lake City at the time. We currently have over 150 students enrolled and have classes from pre-k to 6th grade. Our average class size is 15 students per grade. With our small class sizes, we are able to provide our students with an individualized curriculum. We specialize in teaching students at their ability level.

St. Marguerite Catholic School is currently raising funds to build a new facility that will support classes from pre-k to 8th grade with staff offices and an extended day program. As the only private school in Tooele County, we are looking forward to a larger facility where we can introduce Catholic values to more students and families. Father Hernando Diaz is directing our expansion.

St. Marguerite Catholic School is accredited by The Western Catholic Education Association. In addition, it belongs to the National Catholic Education Association and is approved by the State of Utah.

Saint Marguerite Catholic School is a unique faith-centered community here in Tooele County. We integrate thought and belief by encouraging intellectual growth, nurturing faith and inspiring action. Each student is a valued individual. We strive to develop all our students intellectually, physically, spiritually, and socially.

At St. Marguerite Catholic School, we are very involved in the community and offer the only non-public and only Christian alternative to public education. We look forward to continued growth and celebration of Christ-centered values in Tooele County.
