On May 7th, the Pastoral Center staff, including our cemetery workers, met for the day at the Bishop’s Residence for a day-long retreat. Barbara Sutton, adjunct professor of theology and associate dean of ministerial formation and outreach at St. John’s School of Theology Seminary in Collegeville, Minn. led us in a splendid reflection on why the staff’s service to the diocese is a direct result of their Baptismal call to follow Christ on their personal path to holiness. Each year the staff pauses for this important day of recollection to focus on their service in the diocese and to ask for God’s grace as they seek to meet the needs of the people of God here in Utah. I am very impressed with our staff and their obvious dedication. The retreat day also allows us an opportunity to talk with each other in a different setting and to get to know each other better. In a way, it’s like an extended “water cooler” moment! Thanks to the Personnel Representative Committee for their hard work and a job well done.
