Stanislaw Martynski

SALT LAKE CITY — Stanislaw Martynski, 85, passed away May 12, 2013 from complications due to lung cancer.

Martynski was born on Nov. 10, 1927 in Siedlec, Poland to Karolina Wavrata and Piotr-Pawel Koza. After graduating from Jagiellonian University in Krakow with a degree in medicine, in 1962 he immigrated to the United States. He married Peggy Willey in 1965.

Martynski was one of the first American board certified physicians in emergency medicine and was a founding member of the emergency room department at Hutchison Medical Center and later Erlanger North Hospital. He was an active member of the Catholic faith. He had a deep devotion to his faith and was most proud of Pope John Paul II, a fellow Jagiellonian graduate and native Pole.

Martynski is survived by daughter Michele (Brad), five grandchildren, brother Joseph, sister Janina and many close nephews and nieces in Poland.

Martynski was preceded in death by son Jimmy (Heather) Martynski.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
