Statement from the Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, regarding the passage of SB744:

I am very thankful for the passage of SB 744, the Border Security, Economic Competitiveness, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013. I am grateful to Senator Orrin Hatch for his leadership and to all the lawmakers who voted for this bill.  I pray that as the members of the House of Representatives consider similar legislation they will follow the example of the Senate in providing our country with the comprehensive immigration reform that we so desperately need, reform that reflects the traditions and principles that make our country great.  The passage of SB 744 is good news for all of us in a country that continues, since its inception, to benefit from the immigrants who come to its shores.
