BOUNTIFUL — The students at Saint Olaf Catholic School donated $394 to the family of deceased North Salt Lake Police Officer Charles Skinner, who was tragically killed on Nov. 8, 2008 while on duty. Several students joined together to deposit the donation after school on Nov. 24, at Zion’s Bank North Salt Lake Branch in a fund for Officer Skinner’s family.

The last Monday of each month at Saint Olaf Catholic School is designated "Jeans for Jesus" Day where each student is allowed to contribute $2 for the opportunity to wear jeans to school in place of the designated uniform. The money collected from this monthly event is sent to various charities throughout the school year.

Because of the tragic circumstances of Officer Skinner’s untimely death, coupled with the fact that he is survived by a wife and twin babies, Saint Olaf students wanted to show their respect and sorrow for the sacrifice of Officer Skinner combined with the desire to acknowledge their support and sympathy to his family. They personally included many prayers and wishes for his family, friends and coworkers hoping they may be able to find peace and understanding in this tragic event.
