KEARNS — Tony Martinez, 81, died Feb. 1. Martinez was born Sept. 18, 1927, in McPhee, Colo., to Eduardo and Victoria Gallegos. Nothing was more essential to him than his family. He cherished the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Martinez and his wife showed everyone the true meaning of love. They were married 58 years. In 1966, Martinez faced a medical calamity in which over 65 percent of his body was burned. He never complained. He relied on his faith. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He also loved going to Wendover with his wife. He will be profoundly missed. He is survived by his wife; children, Tom (Martha), Mary (John), Theresa (Kim), Leroy (Jolene), and Mario; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Committal was in Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
