Priest Retreats
Please keep our priests in your prayers during this Easter Season as they make their annual retreats this year. While some of our priests choose to make a private retreat elsewhere, most gather in the Eden Valley at the Red Moose Lodge for the diocesan sponsored retreats: one right after Easter and one in June. It is not exactly a retreat house but we take over the entire facility and reserve one of the rooms as a meditation chapel, complete with the Blessed Sacrament. Father Jim Clark gave the retreat last April and Archbishop John Quinn will lead the retreat starting June 7. These retreats are very important for our priests, who spend the year nurturing the faith of us all and who themselves need to drink deeply from the wellspring of Christ’s grace. I still remember how excited the late Father Bill Flegge was when he found the facility in the Eden Valley. He worked very hard to make our priest retreats meaningful and I remember him with great fondness every time I visit the priests on retreat at the lodge.
