Two hundred attend Spanish Advent Retreat

As English-speaking members of the Diocese of Salt Lake City were guided by Dominican Father David Caron through the Advent Collects in the chapel of Juan Diego Catholic High School, the ‘Día Diocesano de Oración y reflexión de adviento’ for Spanish-speaking Catholics took place at Saint John the Baptist Church on Dec. 4.

The Spanish-language presenters were the Most Reverend John C. Wester, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City; and Father Javier Virgen, the diocesan Vicar for Hispanic Affairs.

‘What is good for me?’ was the presentation by Bishop Wester. Fr. Virgen’s presentation was ‘The Virgen Mary and Advent.’

María-Cruz Gray, director of Hispanic Ministry for the diocese, together with Sandra Maxwell and Marylin Acosta from her office, coordinated the event, which about 200 people attended.
