SALT LAKE CITY — Walter Czarnowski, 88, died May 4. Czarnowski was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Chicago, Ill. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. Thereafter, he worked for 25 years for the Department of Housing and Urban Development as a financial management officer at the Chicago Regional Office. He is survived by his son, Jim; two brothers, Frank and Ed; three sisters, June, Bernice, and Jean; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
