Four students at Blessed Sacrament School were awarded $25 from Knights of Columbus Council 6966 for prize-winning posters in an effort to raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. Awards were presented at All School Mass on Jan 29, by Clarence Illario and Michael Carmody, Knights of Columbus representatives, and Marcy Mullholand, the school’s art teacher. This year’s winners in the drug category are Hannah Munding and Daxton Evans. In the alcohol category the winners are Emmy Darling and Madison Humphries. The artists use a variety of mediums to create their posters. The purpose of the annual contest is to promote awareness of the major societal impact of drug and alcohol abuse; the winning posters are submitted to the Knights of Columbus state level competition and from there winners progress to the international competition.
