Cónsul de México dedicated to economic success of his country's immigrants to the United States

SALT LAKE CITY — The large hallway outside the office of Mexican Consul Salvador Jiménez Muñoz boasts a bank of computers, hooked up not long ago to better facilitate providing official identification cards for Mexican immigrants arriving in Utah and the Western Region. Jiménez oversees the project, checking regularly with computer technicians and making periodic visits to the even larger room off the same hallway, crowded with newly arrived immigrants from Mexico hoping to get a taste of the American Dream.

SALT LAKE CITY — The glass-enclosed Mausoleum of the Risen Savior in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery was the soothing setting for an All Souls Day Mass Nov. 2. Many of the Mass participants had lost loved ones over the past year, and the annual Mass commemorating the souls of all the faithful departed was one of quiet comfort.

OGDEN — With the war in Iraq on the minds of many Americans and elections Nov. 7, prayers were offered for world peace and unity at the Our Lady of Fatima Conference, Nov. 4, at St. James Parish, Ogden. Prayers were also offered for vocations to the priesthood during a holy hour.

PLEASANT VIEW — Deacon Bud Jennings Wardle, 90, died Nov. 4, 2006, in his sleep. Deacon Wardle, finished serving at the altar of God and began standing at the side of God. He died peacefully.

HELPER — There was enough enthusiasm to fill three parish halls Nov. 4, the last day of St. Anthony of Padua Parish’s three-day Fall Carnival. Walking up one flight of stairs in the parish religious education building, to the gym, parishioners, neighbors, and Helper townspeople found a host of booths, games, and goodies to eat.
