Catholic Relief Services

I participated by phone in our spring CRS Board of Directors meeting held in Baltimore last week.  These meetings always leave me in awe at all that CRS does for people throughout the world. In particular, we were briefed on CRS’s work in Haiti as it meets the immediate needs of the people and helps them to rebuild for the long term.  Many other agencies give their proceeds directly to CRS, knowing that our organization is extremely efficient in getting their charitable dollars to work the hardest.  CRS monitors the overall efforts of all organizations, including the United States government, and serves as a conduit for many of them in getting help to the people where it is needed most.

I had lunch last week with Dr. David Smith, a retired neurologist, who recently returned from an extended journey to Zimbabwe where he visited many patients, taught classes and studied the medical needs of the Zimbabwe people. >>>

From time to time, I have the pleasure of hosting dinner at the “Bishop’s Residence” for people who have contributed to their parish, school or catholic institution by purchasing a dinner at my residence.  >>>

Youth Leadership Weekend

I am grateful to Matthew Boerke and Michael Ramirez who gathered youth leaders from parishes around the diocese this past weekend for a Youth Leadership Training Weekend. >>>

Renovación Carismáticos

This past weekend also included a wonderful gathering of the members from all the Hispanic Charismatic groups throughout the diocese. >>>
