Father Anastasius Iwuoho enters seminary at age 11

SALT LAKE CITY — When Father Anastasius Iwuoho says he’s spent his life in the seminary, he means it. A native of Nigeria and ordained in 1994 for the Diocese of Orlor there, he entered the minor seminary at the age of 11.

WEST VALLEY CITY — Father Raynato "Rene" Rodillas is taking up a fourth language, now that he’s been assigned to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in West Valley City. In addition to his native Tagalog, spoken in the Philippines, Fr. Rene, a member of the international Congregation of the Divine Word Priests and Brothers, speaks German and English, and is now studying Spanish.

SALT LAKE CITY — "We got ready for the Thanksgiving feast by churning butter, making headdresses, and painting turkeys," said Sam Brown, a kindergarten student at the Madeleine Choir School, Salt Lake City. "We made cornucopia place mats and vests out of paper bags. We colored them with crayons because they are picture stories. It’s lots of fun."

Bishop Wester appointed to lead migration committee, serve on CRS, CLINIC boards

SALT LAKE CITY — Bishop John C. Wester of the Diocese of Salt Lake City has been named chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Migration. He succeeds Bishop Gerald R. Barnes of San Bernardino, Calif. The position will not be Bishop Wester’s first experience with the committee. He had served previously as a committee member, and then as a consultant.
