Catholic Day at Lagoon — Sunday, July 8, 11 a.m. at Lagoon, 375 Lagoon Drive, Farmington. Activities start at 11 a.m. followed by Mass at noon. Activities include children’s games, egg throwing contests, pie eating contests, nail pounding contests, and bingo. Up to 8 free Entrance Passports or $14.95 discounts for up to eight Regular Ride Passports. Tickets available at local parishes, or Lagoon will also have them available at all ticket windows for those who state that they are with All State Catholic Day.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. bishops greeted with hope and caution the June 25 Supreme Court decision to strike down provisions of an Arizona immigration law that would have allowed warrantless arrests of people suspected of an offense that is deportable, that would have made it a crime to seek work in the state and that would have made undocumented presence a state crime.

Dream Act gives hope to young people

SALT LAKE CITY — June 15 marked a special day for hundreds of thousands of undocumented young people living in the United States. On that day, President Barack Obama issued an executive order that directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to stop deportations of those who would be eligible to participate in the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act — commonly known as the Dream Act, federal legislation that was proposed, but never approved, by Congress to grant permanent residency to certain undocumented young people. (See below for qualifications.)
