Debo de confesar que he carecido de intención en mis prácticas Cuaresmales. Con el diario ajetreo del trabajo, transporte, la escuela de los hijos, las prácticas y actividades, el tratar de completar la larga lista de cosas por hacer, he pasado más tiempo pensando en que hare de comer que no tenga carne para las cenas de los viernes que considerando por qué en primer lugar me estoy preparando para una cena sin carne. Se supone que el ayuno es para tener una experiencia significativa, no solo como una tarea en una lista.

The other day I attended a Jazz basketball game. I was amazed at the level of enthusiasm the fans displayed, even if we are not having the best season ever! I thought to myself, "I wonder if we could generate this same enthusiasm for the great celebrations of Easter Week?" After all, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday, also referred to as the "Sacred Triduum," celebrate and make real our ticket into heaven. What could be more important than our salvation and the promise of eternal life? I was pleased to have a ticket to the basketball game, but Christ offers me a ticket of infinitely greater value!

El otro día fui a un juego de baloncesto de los Jazz. Me asombré del nivel de entusiasmo que los fanáticos presentaban, aún cuando no estamos teniendo la mejor temporada. Y pienso, "me pregunto si ¿podríamos generar este mismo entusiasmo por las grandes celebraciones de la Semana Santa?". Después de todo, el Jueves Santo, el Viernes Santo, el Sábado Santo, la Vigilia Pascual y el Domingo de Pascua, también llamado "Santo Triduo", celebran y hacen realidad nuestro boleto de entrada al cielo. ¿Qué puede ser más importante que nuestra salvación y la promesa de vida eterna? Yo estaba contento de tener un boleto para el juego de baloncesto pero Cristo me ofrece un boleto de un valor mucho más considerable!
