I appreciate the sincere efforts of Governor Gary Herbert and some Legislators to adopt humane solutions in the face of the federal government’s failure to act on immigration reform. Each Legislator’s desire to do what he or she felt was right under the circumstances was clear throughout the debate. I particularly respect Governor Herbert’s decision to sign several immigration bills in the face of extreme opposition.

SALT LAKE CITY - The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) will host its annual convention April 29 through May 1 at the Sheraton City Centre in Salt Lake City. This year a team of trainers from the National Catholic Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) will offer a leadership training development program during the convention.

SALT LAKE CITY — As part of the "Living Saint Program," the librarian teacher at St. Vincent de Paul School, Mrs. Airriess, was invited to visit the students during Catholic School Week as Saint Louise de Marillac. After researching the life and times of this co-worker of St. Vincent de Paul, a costume was made and a two-part presentation (15 minutes each) was prepared to make the visit as authentic as possible.
