SALT LAKE CITY — Recently the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops noted that; "for several decades and in growing numbers, lay men and women have been undertaking a wide variety of roles in Catholic Church ministries." Today over 32,000 ministers work at least 20 hours per week in parishes in the United States. These followers of Christ are composed of "every race and culture who serve in parishes, schools, diocesan agencies, and Catholic Church institutions [and] are identified by many different position titles." In the 2005 document, "Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord," this group is identified as "lay ecclesial ministers." >>>

Utah Catholic high schools celebrate graduates' accomplishments

SALT LAKE CITY — With the men in red and the women in white graduation gowns and carrying a dozen roses each, the 82nd annual Commencement Exercises for Judge Memorial Catholic High School began May 28 with 201 graduates processing to their seats on the stage of Abravanel Hall. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic Elementary School enjoyed a special coalition this past school year with other students – though not just with other classes at J.E. Cosgriff. In a special project, kindergartners from the I.J. & Jeanne Wagner Jewish Community Center teamed with kindergartners at J.E. Cosgriff to build relationships and learn about community. >>>
